Step by step guide

Step One

Step Two

Step Three

Original Image

For my first step, I converted the photograph to black and white as I thought that the photograph would look better without colour and emotion.

Doing this gave the photographgave a higher contrast, a concealed, hidden mood, more outlined texture and darker shadows.

Secondly, I lightened the shadows by a percentage, darkened the highlights and turned up the contrast.

This defined the model's face more and gave some feathers a lighter shading.

For my last step, I adjusted the levels.

This gave the photograph a darker tone and brought out he texture in the feathers more.

It lightened some areas of the photograph so that it wasn't too dark.

In this photograph I like how only half of the model's face is covered in feathers which is more interesting.

I also like how it's close up but not too close up and the focus and the texture right.
